Admissions Information

Steps in the PMBA Admission Process

The Professional MBA program requires that all of the following application materials be submitted before your application will be reviewed and you are considered for acceptance into the Professional MBA program.

Explanation of the items that are necessary to complete this application:

1. Application Form

Complete all items on the application form. If your application did not have a space for an electronic signature at the end of it, please print, sign and send in the Certification Form.
2. Application Fee

To be considered complete, application packages require a non-refundable application fee of $100. Payments may be made via check or credit card. Checks may be made payable to the University at Buffalo.

3. Transcripts

An official transcript from all educational institutions you have attended must be on file at the PMBA office before an interview is scheduled.  Applicants who are currently enrolled in graduate or undergraduate courses must submit transcripts from the most recent completed semester and final transcripts when courses are completed. Transcripts must be sent directly to the PMBA office from your educational institutions. Please note that any coursework transferred into UB for your undergraduate degree will need transcripts sent to the PMBA office as well.

Applicants who attended or graduated from the University at Buffalo may request unofficial transcripts from the UB Student Response Center.

The School of Management cannot request transcripts.

4. Letters of Recommendation

Two letters of recommendation are also part of the application package. Recommenders should mail their letters directly to the PMBA office and sign across the envelope's seal in ink. All recommendations must be received in the PMBA office before an interview can be scheduled. Faxed recommendation forms and copies of recommendation form will not be accepted.

5. Personal Motivation Statement

Please answer the following essay questions and send them to the Professional MBA office via mail or e-mail to
mgt-pmba@buffalo.edu.

A. What are your short-term (up to five years) and long-term (more than ten years) career objectives? List alternatives if you have them.

B. How do you feel you would benefit from attending the University at Buffalo 's MBA program?

C. Describe a professional experience where you feel you have made the greatest positive impact and contribution.

6. Current Résumé

7. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT)

An official test report must be sent directly to the address above (not to the undergraduate institution) by the Educational Testing Service. The institutional code for the School of Management is K6RQX86. Please note that you plan to study part-time. See the GMAT Web site if you have not yet taken the GMAT. The GRE, MCAT and LSAT are not accepted. It takes approximately two weeks for your test results to arrive at the PMBA office.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid
is available to PMBA students taking a minimum of sixcredit hours per semester. There are no scholarships or grants available to PMBA students. However, student loans are available. You may pursue a federal loan at fafsa.ed.gov or choose to apply for one through a financial lending institution.

The Personal Privacy Protection Law

The Personal Privacy Protection Law requires this notice to be provided when collecting personal information from individuals: The information on this admissions application will be used by the School of Management at the University at Buffalo to evaluate your request for admission. Failure to provide the requested information could prevent your application from being processed. The authority to request this information is found in section 355 (2)(i) of the Education Law.

This application will be maintained by the PMBA Program. The official responsible for the maintenance of this information is the assistant dean, Center for Executive Education, 108 Jacobs Management Center, Buffalo, New York 14260-4000.
